ASD Healthcare to Sponsor Free CKD Screening at 2011 DaVita Kidney Rock in Denver

ASD Healthcare will once again be joining forces with DaVita Inc. and The Kidney TRUST in the fight against Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) by underwriting free CKD screening at the 2011 DaVita Kidney Rock run/walk that will be held in Denver, Colorado on August 6th.

ASD is a specialty distribution company with a focus on products that treat both chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end stage renal disease (ESRD).  The company has been a consistent sponsor of DaVita charitable events to benefit the TRUST, as well as working closely with the TRUST to make screening available to its own employees.  Over the last two years, more than 400 ASD employees have participated in company-sponsored kidney disease screenings held in the company’s headquarters in Frisco, Texas.

All of us at ASD are keenly aware that CKD is a life-threatening illness affecting one in six Americans and as a company we are committed to doing everything we can to support efforts to raise awareness,” said William Venus, Vice President of Nephrology for ASD.

With ASD’s financial support, we expect to provide free CKD screening to all participants in the 2011 DaVita Kidney Rock,” added TRUST president and CEO Annette Eros.  “Screening is quick and easy and for those at risk for kidney disease, the few minutes it takes to be screened can be a life-saving wake-up call.”

The Kidney TRUST’s free rapid-screening program, which has reached more than 15,000 people since the program was launched, identifies individuals who have signs of kidney impairment.  Along with learning their screening results onsite, participants benefit from a personal education session to explain their results and any individual risk factors, receive materials that offer additional education about CKD and its prevention, and are encouraged to seek medical follow-up as appropriate.
